Finesse Owners are planning a gathering for all sizes of Alan Platt built Finesse craft in the Medway area during late May 2013 Bank Holiday weekend. Alan built a few ‘one offs’ – these are welcome too.
The current plan is to gather either at Queenborough or in Stangate Creek on the Friday, 24th May then head up river on the Saturday. An evening buffet is planned. Sunday could be a ‘dock’ day with dispersal on the Monday, 27th May. Tides for the River Medway are a little after noon on the Friday to early morning/afternoon by Monday. This would give East Coast boats an opportunity to attend.
Thirteen owners have already indicated an intention to attend. One South Coast based Finesse 21 owner has also indicated his intention to sail up and use the meet as a reason to sail and explore the swatchways.
There is presently a growing number based in the Leigh and Canvey Island area near where they were born and an equal number live around the Swale and Medway’s creeks. There are many others scattered around the ‘east coast’ and, of course, the southern seas. The rally would be a bit of a homecoming for these clinker-built Alan Platt yachts. So, come on, join in…
